2. How did the cases in Jilin occur?

The 3 cases in Jilin are all family members living in Changchun City. They had close contact with a confirmed imported case from abroad and were identified as close contacts and placed under medical observation. However, the three people later developed symptoms of fever and were confirmed as infected with COVID-19.

3. How did the cases in Guangdong occur?

The 8 cases in Guangdong are all related to an imported case. The imported case was a 75-year-old woman who arrived in Guangzhou from the United States on December 30, 2020. She was found to be infected with the virus during quarantine and was transferred to the hospital for isolation and treatment. The other 8 cases are all her close contacts, including her family members and those who shared the same quarantine room with her.

After the cases were reported, local authorities in Jilin and Guangdong quickly took measures to control the spread of the virus. In Jilin, two residential communities where the confirmed cases lived have been sealed off for closed management and nucleic acid testing has been carried out for all residents.
